3008 GT battery issues - what's the correct spec and where to get it? - beatrixtredwell - 19.08.2026

I've been having a bit of a headache with my 2020 Peugeot 3008 GT over the past month. The car has been starting fine generally, but I've noticed the stop-start system hasn't been working for a while and the other day I got a message on the screen saying "battery charge low" even though I'd just driven for about 30 minutes. I took it to a local garage and they tested the battery and said it's showing 11.9 volts and needs replacement. The thing is, I'm a bit confused about what battery this car actually needs because I've read conflicting things online. Some sources say it needs an AGM battery because of the stop-start system others, say EFB is fine for this model. I know Peugeots can be particular about batteries and if you put the wrong type in you can have issues with the charging system and the electronics. I'm based in Abu Dhabi and I've seen a few workshops around that work on European cars, but I'm not sure which ones are genuinely knowledgeable about the more technical aspects. I'm really looking for Expert battery service for Peugeot drivers in Abu Dhabi because I want someone who can tell me exactly what battery I need, fit it properly, and make sure everything is coded correctly so I don't end up with warning lights or charging problems. Has anyone here with a 3008 or 508 replaced their battery recently and can recommend a shop that knows what they're doing? So, does anyone know for sure whether the 3008 GT needs AGM or EFB? I'd rather get this right the first time than have to deal with more issues down the line.
