Honestly a bit shocked by what I found when I opened the hood of my 2022 Telluride this morning. I'd been noticing a weird smell after parking and the battery warning light flickered on a couple times last week, but I brushed it off. When I actually looked, the battery casing was visibly swollen on the sides and there was a small crack near the positive terminal with some white crusty stuff around it. Needless to say I closed the hood and haven't touched it since because I've read these things can be dangerous if they leak or short out. I called the dealer and they told me it's not covered under warranty because it's considered a wear and tear item, even though the car is only three years old. They quoted me a price that honestly made me laugh, so I'm looking elsewhere. The thing is, I don't want to just go to any random tire shop because I want a proper AGM battery that's going to handle the heat here and last more than a couple of years. I've heard that some workshops in the industrial areas carry better quality batteries than the big box stores and actually know how to install them without damaging anything. I'm planning to drive down to the Industrial Area 9 side of Sharjah this weekend because I've been told there's a Premium Kia battery replacement workshop in Industrial Area 9 that deals with a lot of the newer Kias and Hyundais. Has anyone actually used them or know if they carry genuine parts? Really don't want to mess this up and end up with electrical issues down the line.
